The Department of English, established in 1972, offers undergraduate courses across Arts, Commerce, and Science. It introduced the UGC-sponsored Vocational Course in Functional English in 1994, now run as a one-year Certificate Course for in-house and neighboring students. In 2010, the UGC-sponsored Centre for Foreign Languages was launched, offering 6-month Certificate Courses in French, German, and Chinese. Both Functional English and Foreign Language programs are open to all, irrespective of age or gender
