Department of Botany at B. K. Birla College (Empowered Autonomous Status), Kalyan, established in 1972, is a well-recognized academic and research-oriented department affiliated with the University of Mumbai. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programmes in Botany and is known for its strong emphasis on teaching, research, and experiential learning.
The department is supported under prestigious schemes such as DBT Star College and DST-FIST, and has received appreciation from NAAC for its academic and research achievements. It is equipped with well-developed laboratories, a tissue culture laboratory, polyhouses, seed bank, terrace garden and biodiversity garden, and is supported by a highly qualified faculty actively engaged in research, projects, and academic outreach, consistently producing excellent student results and research outputs.
