Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology was established in 1978. The department offered undergraduate program in Microbiology, affiliated to University of Mumbai. The MSc. Microbiology program and PG-DMLT certificate course was initiated in the year 1987. The department has an illustrious history of academic excellence with teachers- students striving hard to hone their skill sets and pursue careers in research, industry, academics, Pathology entrepreneurship, etc.

The BKBCK Microbiology department cultureis a blend of discipline, hardwork and integrity, in utilizing facilities with optimum care, precision and accuracy. The Microbiologists of BKBCK have aforementioned attributes ingrained in their approach towards each and every task, making them successful in every domain of their professional and personal life. The culture is learnt through daily lecture and practicals alonwith Project based learning, Internships, On- job trainings, Certificate Courses, INvited talks, workshops, Awareness camps, etc. The social outreach of the department was initiated by the department at the college and nearby rural and semiurban area by the department by organizing free Blood group detection camps; health checkup camps; CPR workshops for police force; Faculty and non teaching staff, students, etc. and the society on an annual basis. Various Eminent Scientists, Doctors and Medical Technolgists and Experts are invited regularly to keep abreast with the recent advancements in the field of MIcrobiology and Medical Laboratory Technology. The students of Microbiology are the front runners in various college inititatives for health, awareness and empathetic activities.
