Department of Physics
The Department of Physics was established in 1972 and currently offers B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. programs. The Department of Physics was one amongst the “Highly Rated Department” under the College of Excellence Scheme of UGC. The Department has received special grants from UGC, DBT, and DST for strengthening undergraduate teaching and for laboratory up gradation. The Department is endowed with motivated research‐active staff with a unique research culture.
The Department has well-equipped with Materials research laboratory, Thin Film Research Laboratory, General Physics Laboratory, Computational Physics Laboratory and Optics Laboratory . All the faculty members are research guides of the University of Mumbai and have produced 14 Ph.D. students till date. Currently, 12 students are pursuing Ph.D. in the Department.
The faculties have completed several major/minor research projects and have published more than 100 research papers in various reputed national and international journals. The department has eight patents to its credits. All the faculty members have visited abroad to present their research work. The department has shared various administrative responsibilities of the college.
