Inaugural Function
The inaugural function of Science Association for academic year 2018-2019 was organized on Monday, July 30, 2018. The chief guest for the program was Dr. Mrs. Supriya Amey, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital, Kalyan.

Dr. Maninder Kaur Dhaliwal, Chairperson, Science Association, briefed students and guest about science association and activities conducted under this banner throughout the year.

Dr. Geetha Unnikrishnnan, I/C Principal, motivated students to take part in various curricular and co-curricular activities organized by the college for their overall personality development. She also mentioned about DBT STAR scheme specially meant for UG students. Dr. Jossy Varghese, Senior Vice Principal, urged students to be part of Innovation Club and University level Research meet Avishkar. He also told students to make maximum use of well-equipped laboratories and library facilities offered by the college.

Dr. Annika Gupta formally introduced by Dr. Mrs. Supriya Amey ,MBBS, M.D., Microbiology, University of Mumbai, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital, Kalyan, who has 12 years expertise in hospital administration, diagnostics and infection control domains. She was an integral part of the team performing first successful heart transplant after 47 years in Maharashtra. With an excellent teamwork she was able to roll out one of the first antibiotic stewardship program in Mumbai hospitals which received BMJ annual award in 2014. She delivered an Inaugural talk on ‘Lifestyle Management for Monsoon Diseases’, to familiarize the student community about the various health hazards in monsoon. She mentioned the air borne, water borne and vector borne diseases prevalent in monsoon season such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, common cold, H1N1, leptospirosis, various types of gastrointestinal tract infections etc. She also acquainted the students to various causative factors, symptoms and preventive care to be taken in this season. She specially emphasized washing hands with soap and water or use of hand sanitizers at regular intervals so as to prevent most of these diseases. She asked the huge crowd of more than two hundred (214) students present, to enjoy the beauty of nature in the beautiful monsoon season with some precautions.
